This episode highlights the history of a rock group that made history in the late 1960s. They were the Lovin' Spoonful.
Their first seven single releases on 45 rpm records were top ten hits on Billboard. They called their tunes "good time music." And we'll have a good time sampling everyone of their hits, including the originals by other artists that they covered, as well as hit versions of their songs by other artists.
Plus we'll track the Lovin' Spoonful and their leader, John Sebastian's connections to famous rock and roll acts that were their contemporaries. They included the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, the Beach Boys, and the Doors, among many others ... along with some legendary Hollywood film makers such as Woody Allen and Francis Ford Coppola, too.
And we'll speculate on how the Lovin' Spoonful got their name.
There's a lot to love about the Lovin' Spoonful, and you'll hear it all here.
